Luis Hernandez: Artist
I never wanted to grow up becuase I don't know what to expect when i finally graduate high school and college. I'll be first generation to go to college, and art school is always a strong possiblity in mind. When little Luis was first asked what he wanted to be when he grew up in kindergarden, he couldn't answer. That little boy didn't know any english having just immigrated to the U.S. at the age of 2 from a place in Mexico you probably have never even heard of. The next year he was able to anwser that question without hesitation.
I find that the work i produce, for the most part, have an enlightening feel towards them. Vivid colors, excitement, and creativity expose that little boy in many of the pieces that I've created and will continue to create. There has always been the need to create and not just in school. My favorite color is green.

I work the most with is paint but, that doesn't mean i don't work well with other mediums. I work towards having other experiences in art and refining any skills i use. Working with brushes, pencils, spachulas, my own hands, the marks have a gesture that is unique. The purpose of my work always varies. They each send individual messages, serious or fun. I push myself to work with different technique and to use different percepectives. My work is continously evolving as I learn cultures and fine artists that seem completely new to me give me a larger view on my idea of art. To me, the princpals and elements of art must be considered along with a certain degree of technical skill in the percpection of what art is considered to be. I cannot stand when bias overshadows the concept of art.
